In 2014 the GSM returns to the three core noble grapes of the southern Rhône Valley: Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre from the esteemed Avery and Hellsgate vineyards on the Washington side of the Columbia River. The river influence, particularly the cooler nights in the context of a warmer vintage, worked its magic preserving the delicate and higher tone qualities of these varietals and teasing out the spice, stone and rustic fruit from the gravelly sandy soils conditioned from millennia of floods, volcanoes, wind and sun. 217 cases produced. 14.1% alcohol. 33% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 32% Mourvèdre. 93% French oak (14% new: Billon, Saint Martin), 7% new American Oak (Sequin Moreau Icone).
